The thing about flying kites is, it’s easy to get carried away! :D
….man I’m lame.
This was a practice exercise based on a randomly selected sentence:
“A small child tries to fly”
I came up with a bunch of one sentence prompts a while back, under the assumption that I could use them to make 2-3 page practice strips every few weeks or so. That didn’t turn out (like all of my self imposed deadlines) but I like how it turned out in the end so I guess that doesn’t really matter :)
I finally finished the pencils on this! Wooooooooo!
I devised a practice task for myself ages ago where I get some people to write me a bunch of single sentence prompts, and I have to use them to make a short 2-6 page “story” based off them. After promptly forgetting about it for about 3 months, I finally got around to doing one!
This was “A small kid attempts to fly”.
It’s far from perfect. From a narrative standpoint, there’s not really a whole lot there but I really didn’t want to exceed two pages. I’m fairly happy with it though, from a technical standpoint.
Took a lot of inspiration from Nicholas Kole here. I just love love love his line work.
Still though, it annoys me that these two pages took so long. I really need to make more time for art in the day.
Anyway, onto colouring!
Just a little something I’m working on.
Pro Tip: If you intend to make Bastion fan art, make sure you complete the game first otherwise you’ll spend all your time playing the damn game instead of working on the fanart
Apparently after finally deciding that “No, one more level will not be alright” at 3am last night, fan art won out over sleep on the “what would be the sensible thing to do right now?” decision.
NB: It seems that “eat coco pops” also won out over sleep. Sleep needs to up it’s game.
